Here comes Halloween

Wow, this year seems to be flying by. Summer has gone, Autumn has created some beautiful photographic opportunities and now the clocks have gone back bringing early dark nights.

I am hoping for some nice weather this week so I can get out with my camera while I have some time off work. Unfortunately watching the weather forecast is not making me hopeful for this.

However, no matter what the weather decides to do I can still pick up my hook and work some of my own magic ready for Halloween.

Love these little ghosts I hooked up last night. They will look great strung up on invisible thread and hanging in the trees. Wondering if I can find some glow in the dark yarn to make a few more.

If you would like to make your own cheeky ghost, here is my pattern.

Dk yarn
3.5 mm hook

Make a magic ring, 6dc into the ring
1) 2 dc into each   (12st)
2) 1 dc, dc inc, repeat around    (18st)
3) 1 dc x 2 dc inc, repeat around   (24st)
4) 1 dc x 3 dc inc, repeat around   (30st)
5 - 11) 1 dc in each
12) 1 dc x 4, dc inc, repeat around   (36st)
13 - 16) 1 dc in each
17) 1 dc, 1 tr, 2 dtr, 2 dtr, 1 tr, 1 dc, repeat 5 times, slst to finish.
Weave in ends and add features.

Now I just have to get the fairies sorted out with their Halloween costumes.

Sunny Days

For most people I am quite sure the thought of getting outside to get some crafting done is a lovely idea, and for me, well it starts that way but I get distracted very easily!

I always start out with great intentions, then I start to spot the butterflies that are visiting and I just have to get my camera and start taking pictures.

First to be spotted today was this lovely peacock butterfly getting some sun.
Then more and more began to arrive.

I am lucky to have two beautiful buddleia bushes that attract lots of beautiful wildlife into my garden.

However my favourite of all the picture I took today was from when I was looking up at the clouds and spotted one that to me looked like a giant fairy.
Take a look and see what you think x

Playing with fairies

I don't know if you are anything like me when you are being creative, but I have a little problem of getting fixated on something I like. If I make something and I think 'wow' then I find myself making more and more very similar items.
At the moment my fixation is fairies!

I have always loved fairies. When my children were small I used to love taking them to the types of place where you could imagine fairies would live and get them to try to find them.

Each of the fairies have a name and they now have there own blog where you can follow their wanderings http://awanderwiththefairies.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/meet-fairies.html.

I wonder what other friends the fairies might find x x

Time for a holiday

Here we are half way through the half term holidays (yes I get a whole two weeks off - yippee) the weather has been a bit of a mixed bag, but I am not one to let a little rain spoil my time off - well we're not made of sherbet!

For a while my best friend and I had been promising our children to go on a ghost walk in York, so we packed our bags and headed of for a little trip to my favourite city.

I recommend that anyone visiting York should go on the ghost walk, not just for the stories but to hear the history that goes with the buildings of this beautiful place.

It's lovely to take some time to get away and have some fun.
We had a lovely walk through the gardens. My daughter has got past the age were she will spend hours looking for fairies amongst the flowers, although we did spot one mythical creature.

Once I got home I set to work on the pattern for this little lovely who I am sure would feel right at home playing among the flowers.

Along with her sister fairy who was more inspired by the rain clouds.

And now I have another week off for playing with the fairies and designing some new patterns.

Enjoying the sunshine

It has been a beautiful day here, so I headed into the garden to have a play with my new camera.

I think that there are more daisies on the lawn than there is grass!
I really should get out and cut the grass, I had left it as there was a blackbird on her nest in the buddleia and my excuse was that I didn't want to disturb her, but unfortunately it looks like the neighbours cat found her.

The garden is looking rather wild. I always say that it is because I am being kind to nature, but I know I really should try to tame it a little bit!

Maybe if the sun decides to shine again tomorrow I might go out and do more than take pictures x
